The session was an incredible success, showcasing the curiosity and enthusiasm of the next generation while demonstrating the value of hands-on learning and industry collaboration.
A key highlight of the day was a hands-on activity, led by a TAFE trainer, where students built a small-scale turbine with a DC motor. This activity, combined with engaging presentations from Windlab’s Aidan and Scarlette, offered an accessible introduction to renewable energy and its growing potential.
The session saw students from diverse backgrounds, including those studying STEM subjects, actively discussing renewable energy solutions. Through this initiative, the RIEP program continues to inspire connections between students and industry, paving pathways to careers in clean energy and trades.
Alongside the Careers and Pathways Programs, RIEP’s work extends to initiatives such as 'Female in Trades' and 'Try a Trade Day,' broadening opportunities for students across the region.
The event also offered an opportunity to promote renewable energy projects to a younger audience and reinforce the connection between education and future workforce opportunities in clean energy.
